Fire claims mobile home

Fire erupted in the Lake Villa Manufactured Home Community around 3:44 a.m. Saturday and completely destroyed a double-wide mobile home at 278 Hunters Rill.
‘It was fully involved on our arrival,? said Fire Chief Jack LeRoy. Fortunately, the home was unoccupied at the time.
Given the home was a total loss, the estimated damage was about $30,000 to $35,000. Heat from the blaze also caused ‘moderate damage? to neighoring homes at 277 and 279 Hunters Rill.
‘It melted the vinyl siding off both homes on both sides,? said the chief, who estimated the neighboring homes sustained about $5,000 worth of damage.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Fire Investigation Unit.
