The Oxford Varsity wrestling team continues to roll through the flint Metro League competition, defeating Lapeer West 60-7 and Lapeer East 62-7.
The Wildcats started slow against Lapeer West, only taking nine out of the first 13 points. They finally hit their stride when Josh Villarreal pinned his opponent very quickly in the first period. The boys responded after that, pulling away and dominating each individual match and the meet overall.
In their second meet of the night against Lapeer East, the boys started strong and were consistent throughout each individual match. The highlight of the match came late when Prescott Line’s match went into overtime against one of Lapeer West’s freshman wrestlers, and the freshman pulled out the victory late in the overtime periods.
