Ortonville- Beets, Beats, & Eats kicks off for a fourth season from 6-9 p.m., June 12, at Crossman Park in the village.
The event, held every Friday night through Sept. 4 at the park, features local vendors, musicians, and dinner.
‘It’s bigger and better than last year, with more things to do,? said Market Manager Debbie Baker. ‘It’s good for the town with gas prices going up and with the way the economy is, it’s the best thing you can do with your family on a Friday night, inexpensively.?
Opening night’s theme is ‘Kids Night? and will feature three bounce houses, free to the public and sponsored by Brandon Parks and Recreation. There will also be carnival games for the kids, and an All-American dinner with hamburgers and hot dogs, dressed-up baked beans, chips, and ice cream sundaes will be provided by the Ortonville United Methodist Church for a $5 fee.
Art of Life is also sponsoring an art contest. Bring your drawings, paintings or mixed media to be judged in several age categories, including 5-8, 9-11, 12-17 and 18 and up. Entry fee is $5 for 17 and under and $10 for 18 and up. Artwork submitted by adults must also be framed. Pieces can be registered through June 11, call 248-627-4901.
Numerous vendors are already booked for the season, including two full-time produce vendors? Meadows Edge Farm of Ortonville and Tall Trees Community Farm of White Lake. Other vendors include Northern Cabin Candles of Ortonville; Nature’s Harvest of Waterford (handmade goat’s milk soap and lotions); Sewn by Cynthia of Ferndale (aprons and small accessories); Yvonne Brotzke of Leroy (raised dog beds and raised dog feeders); Metal Ornaments by Tyler Baker of Ortonville; Beary Fun Parties of Pontiac (face painting and materials to make your own stuffed animals) and Three Bee Apiary (honey).
Local musicians are invited to bring instruments and play.
Upcoming themed events include ‘Community Outreach? on June 19, with dinner again offered by OUMC, and ‘Antique Appraisals? on June 26, with dinner provided by DNA BBQ.
