Swimmers split in close meets

‘Two very good close meets,? is how Swimming Coach Jackie Boswell described her teams performances this past week against Avondale and Holly.
They split against the two teams, beating Holly on Thursday, Oct. 15, 102.5 to 83.5 on the heels of a 97-89 loss against Avondale on Tuesday, Oct 13.
‘Both meets were so exciting and we are really seeing each girl’s hardwork pay off in the times they have been able to achieve. I can’t wait to see what the girls can pull off in the next three weeks,? said Boswell.
The results of the Holly meet:
In the 200 Medley Relay, the A relay of Senior Kara Charles, Sophomore Ellen Saville, Sophomore Amanda DelaPaz and Junior Anna Daves finished second with a time of 2:17.32. The B relay of Senior of Jennifer Sunman, Sophomore Emily Gilmore, Freshman Brenda Flasher and Senior Rikki Jarvis took third.
In the 200 Free, Junior Sarah Skelton took second with a time of 2:18.51. Sunman and Senior Kaitlyn Kimmel took third and fourth respectively.
The Wildcat’s again finished second, third and fourth in the 200 Individual Medley when Saville came in second with a time of 2:43.14. Charles came in third and Jarvis was fourth.
DelaPaz’s time of 28.25 in the 50 Free was good enough for second, while teammates Daves and Freshman Casey Keils finished third and fourth respectively.
In the diving portion, Sophomore Bailey Terrian came in third with 133.75 points. Senior Olivia Martin was fourth and Sophomore Audrey Bockart was fifth.
In the 100 Fly, Flasher was third for the Wildcats with a time of 1:22.65. DelaPaz tied for fourth with Holly swimmer Jessica Martin.
In the 100 Free, Mallard set a school record with a time of 59.94, giving the Wildcat’s their first top spot of the evening. Daves and Keils came in third and fourth.
The 500 Free went to Skelton, who touched the wall first in a time of 6:03.55. Kimmel came in third and Freshman Caitlyn Wroblewski was fourth.
The 200 Free Relay record went out the window as the A Relay of Mallard, Daves DelaPaz and Skelton took home first with a record-setting time of 1:53.97. Mallard’s leadoff time of 27.72 was also a record. The B Relay of Sunman, Jarvis, Flasher and Junior Jamie Miller finished third.
In the 100 Back, Charles took second with a time of 1:15.84. Sunman finished third and Junior Jasmine Vickery was fourth.
The Wildcats swept the 100 Breast, starting with Saville in first with a time of 1:22.17. Gilmore was second followed by Wroblewski.
In the 400 Free Relay, the relay of Skelton, Keils, Charles and Saville took second with a time of 4:23.95. The relay of Jarvis, Freshman Sammi Kurk, Gilmore and Kimmel was third.
The result of the Avondale meet:
Oxford’s A Relay of Charles, Gilmore, DelaPaz and Daves won the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:18.20.
In the 200 Free, the Wildcats took second, third and fourth, with Skelton taking second in a time of 2:18.96. Sunman was third and Kimmel was fourth.
In the 200 Individual Medley, Saville was second with a time of 2:43.59 and Charles was fourth.
In the 50 Free, DelaPaz finished first with a time of 29.14 and Keils came in fifth.
Martin won the diving portion for the Wildcats with her 140.5 point performance. Terrian finished fifth.
The top performer for the Wildcats in the 100 Fly was Delazpaz, who finished fourth with a time of 1:24.33. Sophomore Brooklyn Allen was fifth,
The Wildcats rebounded in the 100 Free when Daves finished first with a time of 1:05.31. Keils was third.
The 500 Free belonged to the Wildcats as they swept the event. Skelton was first, Kimmel was second and Wroblewski, who set a new personal best in the event, was third.
In the 200 Free Relay, Daves, DelaPaz, Keils and Skelton was second with their time of 1:59.41.
Charles finished second in the 100 Backstroke with her time of 1:15.02. Sunman was fourth.
The Wildcats swept the 100 Breast when Wroblewski finished first with a time of 1:24.35. Saville and Gilmore were second and third respectively.
In the 400 Relay, the A relay of Skelton, Jarvis, Keils and Saville finished second with a time of 4:30.25.
The next meets for the girls is a double-duel meet against Corunna and Pontiac High School on Oct. 20 before swimming against Kearsley on Oct. 22.
