Icers skate past East, Fraser

The Varsity Hockey team continued to roll along with another perfect week, going 2-0 against Lapeer East and Fraser.
Their latest victory came against Fraser, who put up a solid effort against the Wildcats.
With the score being tied at two entering the third period, the Wildcat offense broke out for three goals in the period en route to defeating Fraser 5-2.
Alex Kaks had a hat-trick in the game, and Blaine Marney added two goals and two assists. Dennis Siitari four assists and Nick Hocker had three assists on the evening.
Hockey Head Coach David Hague said that this was the most complete game of the year and was impressed with the team effort.
‘Our boys were prepared from the start of the game and earned a hard fought victory.?
Earlier in the week, the boys traveled up to the Lapeer Ice Palace for a rematch with Lapeer East, which they won 5-1.
Corey Hrischuk stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced and Siitari netted two goals in the game.
‘I thought our defensemen, as a whole, played their best game of the season. They were aggressive and played smart with the puck,? said Hague.
With the victories, the Wildcats move to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the Flint Metro League.
The Wildcats will step out of the FML for a showdown with Berkley on Dec. 30 and Lincoln Park on Jan. 7, 2010.
