The Varsity boys brought a never give up attitude into their first swim meet of the Flint Metro League season against Fenton Jan. 7.
Even though the Wildcats lost 113-69 to the Tigers, several school records were rewritten that evening, much to the delight of Swim Coach Jackie Boswell.
‘The meet went really well and we had some pretty fantastic times,? she said. ‘I was most proud to watch how the boys didn’t give up…they swam as hard as they could till the very end.?
The results of the meet were:
In the 200 Medley Relay, the Wildcats A relay of juniors Kyle Shick, Jacob Clark, James Walker and freshman Jarred Butler finished second with a time of 1:59.34.
In the 200 Freestyle, sophomore Taylor Keller finished second for the Wildcats with his time of 2:23.69. Sophomores Riley McIntosh and Nolan Salani came in fourth and fifth respectively.
In the 200 Individual Medley, sophomore Joey Tasch’s time of 2:37.71 placed him second for the Wildcats, while freshman Zachary Lavender came in third.
In the 50 Freestyle, Walker took second with a time of 24.57, which set the school record. Junior Dylan Hency was fifth for Oxford.
In the Diving portion, junior Jacob Clark came in first with 148.75 points. Shick came in third.
The 100 meter Butterfly went to Oxford’s Walker, who’s time of 1:05.16 set the school record. Junior Corey Bell finished third.
Hency finished third for the Wildcats with a time of 1:03.07 in the 100 Freestyle. McIntosh was fifth.
The school record fell in the 500 Freestyle when Butler finished second with a time of 5:45.42. Tasch came in fourth.
The Oxford A relay of Walker, Keller, Tasch and Butler’s time of 1:46.40 set the school record for the 200 Free Relay and placed them second. The B relay of Clark, sophomore Sean Lobos, McIntosh and Hency finished third.
In the 100 Backstroke, Shick finished second with a time of 1:10.49. Keller finished fifth.
Clark was the Wildcats top performer in the 100 Breaststroke with his third place finish. His time was 1:21.59. Salani was fourth.
In the 400 Free Relay, the A Relay of Shick, Junior Corey Bell, Hency and senior Austin Westmoreland finished third with a time of 4:29.78. ‘I am very proud of their first meet and I am very excited to keep working and see what they can accomplish throughout the rest of the season,? she said.
The next meet is Jan. 21 at Brandon.
