Hoopsters earn impressive 9-1 record

The Oxford Basketball program enjoyed continued success at the lower levels with the seventh-grade boys basketball team finishing their season with a 9-1 overall record.
In Head Coach Tom Wagner’s 23rd and last season coaching middle school boys, the Wildcats averaged nearly 40 points a game, defeating teams by an average of 16 points a game.
They nearly reached 200 points for the season.
Six out of their nine victories came against teams that were from the former Big Nine Conference.
The lone loss of the season came against Holly on March 1.
In their final game of the season, the Wildcats defeated Flint-Carmen Ainswroth 39-23 after breaking the game open in the second half.
‘This group made their mark by displaying outstanding teamwork skills,? said Wagner. ‘The boys were unselfish on offense, consistently finding teammates with the best scoring opportunities.?
Wagner added that even though they were the smallest team defensively, they were always in the right position and did a great job helping each other out.
Glacier Wallington was the Wildcats leading scorer on the season, averaging 15 points a game. Other starters and leading scorers were Michael Neff, Kevin Savich, Jordan Willams, Brian Biddle and Connor Elzerman.
Wagner added that Hunter Grubb was a spark for the Wildcats in several games.
‘Everyone on the team accepted their role and contributed to the team success.?
Wagnar would like to thank everyone who has been helpful and supportive during his 23 seasons as coach.
