Sluggers chalk up 3 more wins

The Varsity Baseball team continued its winning ways after defeating all three opponents they played last week.
Overall, they extended their winning streak to seven games.
On Monday, May 24, the Wildcats traveled out to Holly for the last time in the Flint Metro League and swept the Bronchos, winning game one 7-3 and game two, 2-1.
The Wildcats used a six-run third inning to take control in game one. In the inning, six different players drove in runs for Oxford.
Sophomore Kyle Hartwick led the offense for Oxford, getting three hits and driving in one run, while senior Billy Kammerer had two hits and scored two runs and had one RBI.
Senior Eric Perry got the win, throwing five shutout innings while only giving up four hits and a walk.
In game two, the pitching shined for Oxford. Sophomore Matt Zitny pitched five innings, giving up six hits and one run.
Junior John Pesta stepped to the plate in the sixth inning and got an RBI single. He was able to score when Holly committed two throwing errors on the same play, giving Oxford a 2-1 lead.
On Saturday, May 22 the Wildcats won a rain-shortened game against Troy, 3-0.
The game was called after three innings, and the teams were not able to play the second game of the doubleheader.
Junior Keith Paslean had a two-run double in the first inning and Kammerer threw a one-hitter.
The Wildcats battled Linden on Thursday, May 20. In game one, the offense exploded for 11 runs and 14 hits in Oxford’s 11-1 victory.
Junior Clayton Spiker held Linden to three hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Paslean led the Wildcats with three RBI’s, while senior Alex Seinar went 3-3 with a triple and two RBI’s.
Linden gave Oxford a battle in game two, but came up short and lost 6-4 to the Wildcats. Oxford batters could only get four singles in the game, but were helped out by eight walks by Linden pitching.
The Wildcats stole home twice in the game, one which was a straight steal by senior Neil Maskill.
Overall, Oxford finishes their last FML season at 12-6, fourth in the league. Overall, they are 19-11-1.
The sluggers will take on the Lake Orion Dragons on Tuesday, June 1 in a pre-district game.
