Oxford resident Taylor Jenkins, 14, found that modeling can be a fulfilling and motivating experience at the same time.
She recently competed in the 2010 Miss Jr. Teen Detroit Pageant.
After passing the initial application phase, she competed on July 19 and placed as a runner-up, going through two rounds of modeling and an interview.
Jenkins competed in the teen division, one of four divisions that had young ladies between the ages of seven and 19 competing in modeling routines consisting of casual and formal wear.
The most important aspect of the competition was the interview portion, where Jenkins put her personality on display and answered questions about what she could bring to Miss Jr. Teen Detroit.
Even though she did not win, Jenkins said that the experience was beneficial to her because it helped her increase her self-esteem and motivated her to continue to compete in modeling competitions.
