Ladies put out Knights? lights

The Lady Wildcats basketball team earned a season sweep over the Oak Park Knights with a 55-36 beatdown on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Junior Michelle Gilmore led Oxford with 10 points and seven rebounds, sophomore Shelby Davis had 10 points and three other players had six points each.
‘It was a great team victory for our girls,? head coach Al Poynter said. ‘We had a balanced scoring attack, we shared the ball and our defense wore down Oak Park early.?
It was an impressive victory for the girls, who were playing their second game in two days after a 41-28 loss against Stoney Creek on Monday, Feb. 7.
‘We did some very good things vs. Stoney Creek on Monday night and I am proud of our team for bouncing back with such a quick turnaround,? Poynter added.
The Wildcats then battled Farmington Hills Harrison on Friday night, suffering a 33-22 loss at the hands of the Falcons.
Oxford was able to trim the Falcons lead to three with three minutes left, but they weren’t able to maintain their momentum as Harrison got a late bucket and made four free-throws down the stretch to close out the Wildcats.
Davis, Gilmore and senior Sam Murphy led the Wildcats with five points each.
Oxford currently sits at 3-12 overall and 3-9 in the Oakland Activities Association White division. They play at Birmingham Groves High School on Thursday, Feb. 17.
