‘I can’t live without you. Will you be my wife??

Brandon Twp.- Charlotte Goodhue is a surprise spoiler. She told her boyfriend, Michael Todd, that she has never been surprised, ever.
On Feb. 22, that changed as Todd walked into Amedae Salon, 2211 Allen Road, where Goodhue, a stylist, was working.
‘What are you doing here?? she asked Todd, puzzled.
She was about to get the biggest surprise of her life.
Todd told Goodhue, ‘Not having you in my life is not an option. I can’t live without you.? Then, bending down to one knee and bringing out a box that contained a large Swiss blue topaz ring, he asked her, ‘Will you be my wife??
Goodhue was speechless for a moment as her hand covered her mouth, then exclaimed, ‘Yes!? and repeated it as she threw her arms around him and they kissed. The salon, packed with employees and clients, erupted in cheers and applause.
Todd, a 2001 Brandon High School graduate, is employed with Lyon Gear & Machine of Goodison. He planned his proposal carefully, deciding not to ask Goodhue to marry him on Valentine’s Day or any other holiday, when she might have expected it. Last Saturday, Todd drove alone to Traverse City, to ask Ken and Jennifer Goodhue for their daughter’s hand in marriage. With their blessing, Todd, the son of Michael and Roxanne Todd of Oxford, came home and carried out his plan Tuesday evening.
Goodhue and Todd, who met at a bonfire a year-and-a-half ago, are now planning a fall wedding.
‘I got lucky,? said Goodhue, a 2004 Alpena High School graduate. ‘He’s the perfect catch and this was the perfect surprise.?
