The Goodrich Village Council will hold a special meeting at 3 p.m., June 9 to consider hiring an interim village manager.
Doug McAbee, village council president, said former Grand Blanc Township Supervisor Bill Delaney will be interviewed for the job by the council.
‘We need to move in the right direction and right now nothing is getting done,? said McAbee. ‘We are not paying bills that should be done. Bill has the experience and will help straighten issues out. People need answers.?
McAbee said terms of the part-time job will be discussed at the meeting.
‘The regular June 13 village council meeting has a full agenda and I believe an earlier meeting would better serve the community,? said McAbee.
In March, long time Village Manager Jakki Sidge vacated her office after a whirlwind of controversy stemming from a 3-2 vote at a special meeting Feb. 11, when the village council approved a motion requesting her resignation. Sidge had served as the village administrator for about the last 15 years. Since then the position has been vacant.
Delaney spent 18 years serving as Grand Blanc Township supervisor where he managed a $9 million annual budget, administered more than $8 million in public works projects, and provided oversight of the township’s building department and 35-member police force. As township supervisor, Delaney had primary responsibility for working with local developers regarding all matters of planning, zoning,and infrastructure.
Delaney lost his re-election bid for township supervisor in 2000. In 2008, Delaney lost a bid for Grand Blanc Township treasurer.
