Line in the running for Mr. Football Award

Varsity Wildcat running back/middle linebacker Prescott Line needs your vote.
The senior is currently selected as one of ten top high school varsity football players from across southeast Michigan by State Champs! and is competing for a final four spot in the State Champs! Metro PCS Mr. Football Award.
The award is run through State Champs!, a weekly, half-hour high school sports show airing on CW 50 at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
For over 10 years, the show has provided a comprehensive look at the high school sport scene, complete with game recaps and highlights.
The show is currently running a ballot online at their website, www.statechamps.tv/mrfootbal, where fans can vote once per day per valid email address, for one player on the ballot. Voting continues until the end of the state finals on November 25-26.
Producer and lead camera man Jonathan Kidd heard about Line because of his commitment to attend Southern Methodist University.
Line’s hype was bolstered due to his performance against Lake Orion (33 carries, 233 yards, 5 touchdowns) Southfield-Lathrup (31 carries, 232 yards, 5 touchdowns) and Farmington (39 carries, 277 yards, 4 touchdowns).
Against Farmington Hills Harrison, Line carried the ball 37 times for 185 yards.
Kidd wasn’t disappointed after witnessing Line’s dominance over LO’s defense and was impressed by his will and determination.
‘He gets off the line pretty good,? Kidd said. ‘We have just been impressed with his start.?
Tom Markowski of the Detroit News, who appears weekly on State Champs!, had high praise for Line even though he had yet to see him play.
‘I think I have seen his brother run, and I think I am hearing about a carbon copy of a kid that just keeps plugging along, keeps his legs moving,? Markowski said. ‘When you think about a middle linebacker and running back carrying the load he does, he has great stamina.?
At the end of the season, the top fan vote getter will earn an automatic berth into the final four.
According to Kidd, simply receiving the most fan votes does not guarantee a player is going to be crowned Mr. Football, but his chance is increased by 20 percent.
‘In the end, we decide who is made Mr. Football, but we like the fans weighing in as well,? Kidd said.
Mr. Football is ultimately selected by Kidd, Markowski and Lorne Plant, the show’s host and producer.
