A human billboard was hit by a car last week in downtown Oxford, but don’t worry, she was not seriously injured.
Kimberly Davis, 47, of Orion Township, was struck by a 2011 Chevy March 26 while crossing from the northeast to the southeast corner at the intersection of Washington (M-24) and Burdick streets.
Davis is a well-known fixture in the downtown as she’s employed by the Pit Stop Barber Shop to wear a sandwich board sign advertising the business. She’s frequently seen smiling and waving to passing motorists.
According to the Oxford Village Police report, Davis was moving within the crosswalk when she was hit by the Chevy as it was turning left off M-24 onto E. Burdick St.
The driver, a 27-year-old Metamora woman, told police, ‘It was my fault. I didn’t even see her.? The officer noted the driver, who was pregnant, ‘appeared upset,? but did not require any medical attention.
The Metamora woman was issued a citation for failing to yield.
As for Davis, she’s doing just fine. She was transported to a hospital in Pontiac where she was treated and released.
‘She was in great condition with only a sore knee,? reported Scott Polando, co-owner of the Pit Stop Barber Shop, in an e-mail. ‘She intends on getting back out there after her knee feels better.?
