How much cleaning is necessary?

In looking at a vehicle maintenance policy, Orion Township Trustee Richard Tomczak told other trustees on Jan. 20 he didn’t see a limit on how many times the exterior of a township owned or leased vehicle could be cleaned by the employee driving it.
The policy just indicated a vehicle was to be cleaned ‘on a need be basis.?
Tom Berger, head of the building department, said he tells his employees to clean the exterior once a week and clean the interior once a month.
According to Berger, springtime is the worst time of the year to keep his vehicles clean because of the mud his inspectors have to deal with.
‘You can’t control clay. I’ll use my own discretion,? he added.
Trustees agreed the policy should include ‘as needed as directed by department heads.?
The policy also includes list of local businesses where vehicle maintenance can be done. It was pointed out that there was no Orion business listed under quick oil changes and asked if that could be added.
