Village officials were surprised to see an ad for Park Island condominiums in the Oakland Press on Jan. 21.
Village of Lake Orion Council members expressed dismay on Jan. 26 at the timing of the ad.
According to LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel, the developer, Symphony Homes, is a long way from getting any final OK from the village.
‘They’ve only been here once and March is the earliest they’ll be back at the planning commission,? she added. ‘I think it’s deplorable. This reflects on the credibility of the applicant.?
Council president Bill Siver, who is also a member of the PC, said it’s (the ad) a waste of Symphony Homes? money.
‘They’re no further along than when they came to us at the planning commission. If they took any money from anybody, I would think it was fraud,? he added.
The ad mentions the development consists of nine resort-like condominiums with a lake view. The ad shows a drawing of one and two story units.
Symphony Homes? website mentions the development is coming soon — 2004. Location maps are listed. One photo shows two young children playing on a very sandy beach..
The site says the community will provide a resident with easy access to a variety of lake activities including boating, fishing, skiing, swimming, snowmobling and ice fishing.
