Kickers posted two shutouts last week with wins over Avondale and White Lake Lakeland.
Clarkston Girls Varsity Soccer finished the week on Saturday with a 5-0 win over Lakeland at the Wolves’ stadium.
“They are playing really well,” said Damian Huffer, head coach. “They are starting to really click and gel going forward which is pretty much been the focus since we don’t have that many training sessions. All these girls have been trained really well by their travel coaches which makes my job pretty easy. We had a lot of technical plays that were smart. They improve every single day. They just really enjoy playing together.”
The Wolves held onto possession of the ball for the majority of the game and put their first point on the board when freshman Macie Moscovic scored seven minutes into the first half.
With 21 minutes left in the first half, Clarkston defense pushed Lakeland’s corner kick out of the Wolves’ turf. Freshman Emma Bradley passed the ball to sophomore Ava Bechtell.

Bechtell passed the ball onto senior Ryann Fetty. Fetty took a shot on the net and scored the second goal for the game.
“She is electric to watch,” Huffer said, adding it was Fetty’s first game and she is going to play for Grand Valley State University.
Clarkston scored ten minutes later when Lakeland’s goalie and defense went for the ball as it went loose in front of the net. Sophomore Michaela Holbein put it into the corner of the net.
Bechtell opened the second half with her first of two goals less than two minutes into play.
The Wolves made two more attempts on the net before the Eagles made it into Clarkston’s territory and put a shot on goal with junior Annabelle Yeloushan knocking the ball away from the goal.
Clarkston made another drive towards Lakeland’s net and Bechtell scored her second goal of the day with 33:22 left in the game.
Yeloushan and senior Rachel Tanelian were in the net during the game.
The Wolves opened the week with a 8-0 win over Avondale in a OAA White league game, April 13.
“It was another one we looked good going forward,” Huffer. “It really could have been over in the first half if we finished our chances. They are really starting to click and they look good doing it. More importantly they are enjoying it which is key for me. They are a great group of girls. They work hard. It will be a really interesting season if they keep improving.”
The Wolves had a 3-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Bechtell and freshman Ava Tereau both had a hat trick during the game to lead the team. Moscovic and sophomore Caroline Norrito scored one goal each.
Clarkston opened the week against Birmingham Seaholm at home in a 2-1 loss. Bechtell scored the lone goal.
“It is going to be a league game which will be a tough test,” Huffer said, adding it’s hard to gauge how teams are doing because of COVID due to missing players. “Seaholm will be a good test to see where we stack up. If we continue to get another win on the board it puts us in a good spot to do well.”
The Wolves head to Goodrich on Thursday and Farmington on Tuesday. JV plays at 5:30 p.m., varsity at 7 p.m.
