A win, a loss and 8 records

The boys varsity swim team split another Oakland Activities Association dual meet on Thursday, Jan. 6 against Troy Athens High School and Bloomfield Hills Andover High School.
In the midst of a 92-91 victory over Athens and a 113-70 loss to Andover, the Wildcats set eight school records, something that swim coach Jackie Rank was extremely excited pleased with.
‘I am so proud of the boys and am excited to see what they can do on Thursday when we host Hazel Park,? she said.
Individual results are as follows:
200 Medley Relay: The Wildcat A relay of Jarred Butler, Zach Lavender, Jimmy Walker and Blake Hibdon won the event with a school record time of 1:51.68.
200 Freestyle: Joey Tasch came in second against Andover and first against Athens with his time of 2:06.44.
200 Individual Medley: Butler came in second against Andover and first against Athens with his time of 2:22.08, setting a school record. Lavender came in fourth against Andover and second against Athens.
50 Freestyle: Walker set a school record with his event winning time of 23.04. Dylan Hency came in fifth against Andover and third against Athens.
100 Butterfly: Walker set a school record and won the event with a time of 58.55. Hency came in fifth against Andover and third against Athens.
100 Freestyle: Hibdon came in third against Andover and first against Athens with a time of 55.46. Vandecar was fifth against Andover and fourth against Athens.
500 Freestyle: Butler set a school record and came in second against both teams with a time of 5:15.43. Tasch came in third against both teams.
200 Free Relay: Oxford A Relay of Sean Thomas, Lavender, Hency and Tasch came in second against Andover and first against Athens with a time of 1:06.00. Vandecar came in fourth against Andover and fifth against Athens.
100 Breaststroke: Lavender came in third against Andover and first against Athens with a time of 1:13.69. Steven DeClercq came in fifth for the Wildcats against both teams.
400 Free Relay: Two school records were set in this event. The A relay of Walker, Tasch, Hibdon and Butler set the record with their overall first place time of 3:36.38. Walker, the lead-off swimmer, also set the record in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 52.55.
Up next for the swimmers is a home meet against Hazel Park on Thursday, Jan. 13. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
