Another Interact surprise to benefit local children

The Clarkston Interact Club continues to astonish their sponsor, the Rotary Club of Clarkston, recently raising $350 for the cemetery restoration project in Clarkston and collecting and donating clothes, blankets and shoes for Carriage Town Ministries in Flint.
Interact has now raised $735 and donated it through the Rotary Club for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Their hard work will allow 29 preschoolers to receive a new age-appropriate book every month.
The Rotary Club of Clarkston embarked on the project this year to provide every child from birth until their fifth birthday, in the three Clarkston ZIP codes, with a free new age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every month. Currently, there are 545 children signed up and receiving books.
To continue the project for years to come, a total of $40,000 a year will need to be raised.
Individuals looking to donate can visit donate.imaginationlibrary.com/#us-MICLARKSTON.
In addition, Clarkston students aged 12-18 who would like to become involved in the Rotary Interact Service Club can contact Mary Sloan at marymsloan@comcast.net.
