Art grant for SCAMP

Clarkston SCAMP has announced the group has received a $3,000 grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (michiganbusiness.org/industries/macc) to help fund the summer art program at camp.
SCAMP will be partnering with Paint A Miracle out of Rochester for this endeavor. Paint A Miracle is an organization that strives to build a supporting and encouraging community of artists that recognizes the important contribution artists with disabilities bring to the world.
The grant will help to fund art teachers, art supplies and the framing and completion of the artists’ works.
“We are always working to bring new programs and experiences to SCAMP and one of the exciting ways to do this is through art and music,” said Clarkston SCAMP Executive Director Aimee Baker. “Not all of our campers enjoy the same things, and many blossom in different settings. Art is one of those areas that can bring about self-expression and pride in our campers.
“We are grateful to MCACA for this opportunity.”
This is the third year Paint A Miracle has participated in SCAMP and the second time that it is funded in part by the MCACA.
