Athletes of The Week: Dancing for top spots

The Clarkston Varsity Dance team finished the season placing at the top during the Spirit Shine Celebration State Championship, Feb. 29.

The Clarkston Varsity Dance team finished in first place in the Lyrical – Senior Division during the Spirit Shine Celebration, Feb. 29. The team includes Abbey Angona, Emily Burke, Casi Cook, Julia Heilman, Chloe Marietta, Abby McIntyre, Malaya Mojica, Jordan Mountain, Gabriella Naboychik, Riley Patterson, Hayley Raymond, Isabelle Whiteherse and Hannah Wilson. They finished in first place in Lyrical – Senior Division by half a point with 246.5 points. Port Huron X-treme finished in second place with 246 points. They also finished in the Pom Pom Division 1 in third place with 248.5 points.
Freshman Belle Whiteherse finished in first place in the Top Performer – Senior Division 1 with 176.5 points. Seniors Jordan Mountain and Riley Patterson finished in the top four in the Top Performer – Senior Division 2. Mountain scored 178.5 points to finish in third place and Patterson scored 177 points for fourth place. The girls celebrated their two seniors and had their last half time performance on March 5 as the Clarkston Boys Varsity Basketball team hosted Lake Orion.
The team includes freshmen Chloe Marietta, Abby McIntyre, Malaya Mojica, Belle Whiteherse; sophomores Abbey Angona, Casi Cook, Haley Raymond; juniors Emily Burke, Julia Heilman, Gabby Naboychik, Hannah Wilson; seniors Jordan Mountain and Riley Patterson. They are led by Kelsey Chewins, head coach, and Janice Jackson, assistant coach.
