Boutique for holiday shopping at MillsHoliday shopping plus a great cause equals fun when A Space 2 Dream hosts Sugar Plum Chic: A Holiday Boutique this Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
The event, at Clarkston Mills, 20 W. Washington Street in downtown Clarkston, has an array of vendors along with raffles, demonstrations and refreshments.
“It is the second year we have had the event,” said Tricia Delude, AS2D president. “The first year we held it at my house. It was such a success we decided we would make it bigger and add more to it.”
They have 12 vendors including Great Turtle Toys, Bonnie & Clyde, Fiddlebumps and Pretty Stinking Green. Each has something unique for friends and family for holiday gifts.
“There is something for literally everyone on your list,” Delude added.
They also have holiday themed demonstrations. The first begins at 2 p.m. when Essence on Main will have a holiday cooking demonstration. The next one is from Artichoke Interiors showing how to decorate the mantel for the holidays, 3 p.m. Envious Creations finishes the day at 4 p.m. and will show how to create a holiday centerpiece for the low cost of $20.
They will also have great raffle prizes and games. The raffle prizes include four tickets to Cirque du Soleil at the Fox Theatre in December, a gift basket from the Union General and gift certificates from local restaurants and hair salons.
Shoppers can also play Wheel of Fortune for $5 each try.
“You spin the wheel and whatever color you land on you pull a prize from a prize box with the same color,” Delude explained.
A Space 2 Dream is asking for a entry fee of $2 for donation. All proceeds from the entry fee, raffle tickets, the Wheel of Fortune and 15 percent of vendor sales are being donated to AS2D, a grassroots group in Clarkston. They help at-risk children by surprising them with a dream bedroom to help them heal and excel. They rely solely on fundraising, donations and volunteers.
“It will go to our next room for Brittany an 11-year-old in Detroit,” Delude said. “It is such a great and unique cause. Every cent you spend will impact the life of a child in Southeastern Michigan.”
She explained AS2D receives more nominations each day.
“The stories are becoming more heartbreaking,” she added. “It is a unique cause for everyone to get involved with. Even just attending and not buying anything is still showing support.”
The first 50 guests will receive a gift bag with coupons from local restaurants and businesses.
“Clarkston Cleaning donated certificates,” Delude added. “Bar Louie, in Auburn Hills, has a free appetizer coupon in the gift bag. At least 10 items are in the bag.”
