Burglary suspect apprehanded

In the early-morning hours of March 8, officers were dispatched to the Dandy Oil Change in the 5400 block of Sashabaw Road for a burglary alarm.
Officers found the rear glass door had been broken, allowing access to the business. The cash drawer was missing from the register. The officers viewed surveillance video and recognized the subject, a 57-year-old Independence Township man, from prior contact earlier in the shift as a suspicious person they investigated.
The officers went to the home where the suspect resides, and he was taken into custody without incident. Stolen cash was recovered, and his vehicle was impounded. The man was transported to the substation to be interviewed by detectives and lodged at the Oakland County Jail.
Charges are pending.
