Celebrate National Day of Prayer in Clarkston

The National Day of Prayer is May 4, and the Clarkston community will be having a breakfast and program to celebrate the day from 7:15-9 a.m. at Clarkston United Methodist Church, 6600 Waldon Road.
Tickets for the event are $15 and are on sale at area churches as well as the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce, 5856 South Main Street, until April 27. All faiths are welcome to attend.
Music for the National Day of Prayer program will be performed by Dave Bennett, Waterford resident and nationally renowned clarinet player, and Andy Dirks, Clarkston resident and former Detroit Tigers outfielder, will give the program.
The National Day of Prayer was designated by Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman in 1952. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal prayer for the nation.
The Clarkston National Day of Prayer moves from church to church in Clarkston each year, with community members coming together to celebrate Christian Judeo understanding.
