As the Lake Orion area grows in population and business, drivers find area roadways clogged with traffic.
Commuters know first hand the long train of bumper-to-bumper traffic migrating south in the morning and returning north in the evening.
M-24 (Lapeer Road) has long carried the brunt of this migration, but as neghborhoods grow Joslyn and Baldwin Roads are becoming impassable during peak periods as well.
The Orion Area of Commerce is seeing the effect of traffic congestion on local businesses. It’s spearheading a movement to get Baldwin Road widened.
OACC president, Neal Porter, has found government funds that could be earmarked for this project. The chamber has written a resoultion supporting the widening of Baldwin and needs the support of the community to proceed.
All residents of Orion Township, area businesses and users of Baldwin are asked to join OACC in support of this project by signing a petition.
Petitions will be available at several Baldwin Road businesses, the chamber office and throughout the community. Signatures must be collected and received at the chamber office by March 20.
To find a conveniently located petition call the chamber office at 248-693-6300.
