At the September 27 Clarkston City Council meeting, Clerk Jennifer Speagle provided a status update for the November 2 election, stating applications for absentee ballots are currently being mailed out and that the deadline for becoming a write-in candidate is October 22. 
Council also approved a request from the Tree Committee to purchase and install six Ginko trees at a cost of $3,727 to replace trees that have died in the downtown easements over the last two years.  Ginko trees were selected because they have been proven to be more tolerant to road salt. 
A report summarizing just over $11,000 in parking fee and ticket revenue in July and August was presented.  All proceeds from the parking fund are utilized for road, parking lot and sidewalk maintenance in the city.
