Clarkston Junior High School Leadership is hosting a Color Run for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, May 18, at the Clarkston High School trail.
This year, CJHS Leadership will be granting the wish of Addyson, a local fifth-grade student with Down Syndrome who loves princesses, Barbies, dogs, and cats. The proceeds from this race will help Addyson and other Michigan children get their wishes granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In addition, CJHS Leadership is hosting a fundraiser for Addyson at Topgolf, 500 Great Lakes Crossing Dr., Auburn Hills, on May 5 from 1-4 p.m.
“We are so excited to be partnering with Make-A-Wish Foundation in support of Addyson,” said Gwen Zabel, one of the coordinators for the Color Run from Clarkston Junior High Leadership. “This year, we are granting Addyson’s wish at our pep rally and we want to make it as memorable as possible.
“To grant her wish and other wishes of kids in Michigan, we are trying to raise as much money as possible to help these kids get a break from the stress of dealing with their medical conditions by organizing a Color Run that is not only a super-fun day to spend with your friends and family, but also one that is important to the kids from Make-A-Wish. We hope to see the Clarkston Community show their support. All proceeds from our Color Run are going directly towards Make-A-Wish Michigan, where you see the immediate results in the form of these amazing kids’ happiness.”
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The race starts at 10 a.m. and will end around noon. The price of the race is $12 per individual or $35 per family. The price includes the race, water, snacks, and family games. Additional Color Run T-shirts are $8 per shirt.
The trail is located behind the tennis courts and football field and is approximately two miles long. During the run, there are different areas where colored powder will be thrown as runners and walkers pass by. It is recommended to wear white and bring an extra set of clothes or towel for the way home.
