‘Cruise to Ortonville? classic car show

Ortonville- Jim Sutton has been interested in classic cars since he was 11-years-old and his father drove a ?59 Chevy.
Sutton, now 50, owns a 1970 Chevelle SS, the same car he owned when he was in high school. He will take this car to the Cruise to Ortonville classic car show Aug. 3, which he is helping sponsor as the owner of Sutton and Sons Mechanical and a member of the North Oakland Bow Ties.
‘I don’t do as many car shows as I used to, but this one is nearby and we’re putting it on,? he said. ‘Everything should run on time. There will be a lot of pretty cars in pretty downtown Ortonville.?
Registration for the car show is from 8 a.m.-noon, Aug. 3, on Mill Street downtown. A $15 entry fee per vehicle includes a free lunch of hot dogs, chips and pop, a goody bag and free dash plaques for the first 150 registrants.
Prizes will be awarded in 14 classes, including 1900-1949 original, 1950-1981 original, street machine 1969 and older, street machine 1970 and up, custom, truck original, motorcycles and best of show.
The North Oakland Bow Ties celebrates vintage vehicles of all makes and this is the club’s first year being involved with the show, which is presented by the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority.
‘We’re hoping for a great day, great time, great vehicles and great weather,? said Jim Van Hooser, organizer of the show.
Van Hooser and his wife, D’Anne own a 1932 Chevrolet Deluxe Roadster, a 1958 GMC Suburban carrier pick-up truck, a 1964 Corvair Spyder convertible, and a 1968 Buick GS 400 convertible. Additionally, they have four to five other cars that are being restored, including their current project, a 1938 Oldsmobile couple. The couple plans to bring the Roadster and GMC pick-up to the Cruise to Ortonville show.
