Eric Overall tribute

Residents and neighbors from throughout north Oakland County have picked up more than 400 blue lights so far from City Hall in honor of deputy Eric Overall.
Donations are being collected for the lights and the family of the deputy, who died in the line on duty on Nov. 23.
“We can’t keep them in stock. People have been very generous. I’m very proud of the city,” said Mayor Steven Percival, who called for residents to light their homes with blue lights through December.
Jason and Melanie Haley, owners of the ACE Hardware at Dixie and Maybee Road, donated 100 light bulbs and will collect donations at the register on Dec. 22-23 – customers will be asked to round up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar, or any additional amount, with 100 percent going to the fund.
The hardware store will also match donations up to the first $500.
The city will host a vigil in January, when the donations will be presented to the family, Percival said.
