Expo for body and mind

The Body Mind Green Expo is set for March 12, 5:30 – 8 p.m. and the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community to come out for the event which is free and open to the public.
“It’s a good opportunity for the community to come and meet some of the businesses in our area,” said Janelle Best, executive director. “It is really to create awareness of what is available for your health in this area.”
It is the third year for the expo and the first year it is held at Clarkston High School, 6093 Flemings Lake Road.
“The event has continued to show growth over the last two years so we are going to continue to provide the event,” Best added.
The night begins with a keynote presentation in the high school’s performing arts center from Dr. Rod Rock, Clarkston Community Schools Superintendent, and Deanna Hart, from McLaren.
Then, you can visit the exhibitors, which will have demonstrations and presentations in the cafeteria.
“We are really excited we are going to have the 15-minute rotating demonstrations,” Best added. “They are going to be educational and interactive.”
The expo includes Mueva Fitness with a Zumba demonstration; Anytime Fitness; Neiman’s Family Market promoting organic choices they offer; Pure Relaxation with free chair massages; Rustic Maka with all natural deodorants; BioTurf with organic lawn care chemicals; Tyler Milner from Farm Bureau Insurance and more.
“He will have an educational presentation on why it is important to have life insurance because it offers peace of mind,” said Best.
Dr. Frank Granett R.ph, author of Overmedicating Our Youth is signing books.
“It is a really good mix of exhibitors,” Best said. “It is also bringing the businesses to the community. A lot of times you are likely to go to a business you have met or you know.”
There are also activities for the kids to do at the Clarkston Independence District Library booth.
The expo will also have raffles with great prizes including a 12-month gym membership to Anytime Fitness, located at the corner of White Lake Road and Dixie Highway.
“It is an opportunity to win fun things and things to participate in,” Best smiled.
The chamber partnered with Clarkston Community Schools and is supported by a very hard-working committee. The presenting sponser for the event is McLaren.
There is still time to register, Best added.
