Grapplers take league title at ‘Red? tourney, ready for Districts this week

The Wolves walked away from the OAA Red Tournament with the league title.
The boys scored 173.5 points, blowing seven teams out of the water, including Lake Orion, who ended up taking second place.
Seniors Zak Roberson (112), Matt Deitz (140) and Evan King (160) walked away with their second consecutive league titles. Roberson put a hold on Rochester’s Kaelen Richards to win the final round, 4-1, while King defeated another Falcon, 8-1. Deitz outmatched Brad Lowe from Avondale, 9-2.
Matt Vandermeer won a league title in his 171-weight class by keeping Rochester Adams? Matt Hart to one point when the two went into overtime.
Jeff Sloney (125) took out Dragon Matt Musary to win his league title.
Raymond Wilkie (103 ), Ty Foltz (135), and Mike Henige (145) placed in second while Mike Cardinale (119), Naron McDougal (152) and Scott Devos (285) took fourth place.
The boys head to Lake Orion on Wednesday for Team District finals where they will compete to win the title of District Champs against the Dragons, Pontiac and Rochester Adams. They begin at 5:30 p.m
They continue on Saturday in the Individual Districts finals to take on wrestlers from the same three teams again, plus ten other schools.
They began at 9:30 a.m. The winning teams and individual wrestlers continue on to Regionals next week.
