McLaren Clarkston hosts Empowered You, an evening devoted to helping women learn and laugh, on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, 5680 Bow Pointe Drive, from 5-7:30 p.m.
The event will include free health screenings, opportunity to speak with women’s health providers, personal pampering, community vendors, giveaways, food, and resources for women to stay healthy and informed.

McLaren of Clarkston and other health providers are geared up to provide flu vaccinations, this year aimed at three strains including Influenza A out of Michigan.
“The benefit for most people is that it would give them a reduced severity of the illness,” said Dr. Brian Tweddle of McLaren Oakland. “The greatest benefit is to those under 5 and over 65. It really decreases their chance of needing to be hospitalized for it. It is the respiratory flu not the vomiting and diarrhea flu.”
