To turn it around in the championship game at the Nathan Manuel Tournament, Matt Rodgers hit a grand slam and Alex Topham hit a home run.
Senior Tyler Scarlett added his help on the plate, making the hits and pitching for the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. He shut East down and the Wolves won, 13-9.
‘Tyler really saved the day,? said Price.
Rodgers also hit a triple and had five RBIs.
The boys began the day against Cranbrook and won, 6-0.
Vince Siwicki pitched the shut-out game. Rodgers was 2-for-3 and hit a double. Chris Mocerino and Scarlett had an RBI.
‘Vince had a dominant performance and gave up two hits,? said Price.
In the second round, the Wolves lost to Milford, 10-7.
‘It was an uninspiring game,? said Price. ‘A lot of walks led to a lot of unearned runs. We just didn’t come out to play.?
The boys made all seven of their runs in the fifth inning.
Clarkston played Kettering on Tuesday and host Davison on Wednesday in a double-header.
They host the Roy Warner Classic on Saturday.
Price is optimistic but it depends on how the players approach the game.
‘If the kids come out to play, we can beat a lot of teams,? he said. ‘We can play anybody. I am looking forward to the week.?
The boys began on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Roy Warner Classic begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
