Interview with an Olympian

It’s OK to be goofy on a snowboard.
That just means the left foot is forward as you head down the hill, fourth graders at Pine Knob Elementary learned while talking to Olympic snowboarder Barrett Christy, Dec. 10.
The right foot forward ? that’s considered ‘regular.?
‘My son was born to two goofy parents and he’s regular,? Christy told the students during the online chat.
The school Art Department hosted the podcast with Christy, as well as lessons on patterns and designs for a snowboard.
Greg Fugate, midwest sales director for Gnu Snowboards, organized the online interview and provided a snowboard blank for the students.
‘I thought it would be fun for my son (Graham) and his classmates,? Fugate said.
“We’re always looking for new shapes and designs,” Christy said. “I’m really excited to see what you come up with.”
Christy, who lives in Washington state, was a member of the first’U.S. Snowboarding’team during the?1998 Winter Olympics.
