Lady Cagers score win on Lakers

Lindsey Reppuhn made sure her presence was felt as the Lady Cagers took on two league foes last week.
The girls varsity basketball team beat West Bloomfield, 50-44, in which Reppuhn dominated the score board with 13 points. She led with 11 points in the girls loss to Lake Orion on Jan. 26.
‘She is playing with a lot of confidence,? said Tim Wasilk, head coach. ‘She shot the ball well and took the ball to basket. She stepped into a starter role in the few weeks and she has been doing a nice job.?
The Lady Wolves were in a two point lead over the Lakers going into the second half on Friday.
By the time the third quarter ended both teams were tied. The girls dominated the final eight minutes posting 19 points to take the win.
‘We came focused and with a lot of intensity,? explained Wasilk. ‘We came with a game plan. The girls stuck to it and made it tough for West Bloomfield to score. It was a good league win for us.?
Wasilk said what also helped was the team played a good game on both sides of the floor and shot the ball well.
Kaleigh Kenny added 11 points and Anna Manilla had nine points in the girls win over the Lakers.
The girls lost to Lake Orion earlier in the week, 38-32.
They trailed behind the Dragons, 21-10, going into the second half. After coming back from the break they kept Lake Orion to only scoring six points.
Clarkston scored 22 points in the second half but it wasn’t enough to pull away with the win.
‘We played a very good second half and played with a lot of intensity,? said Wasilk. ‘The first half we really struggled with the basketball.?
Reppuhn led the team with 11 points and scored two 3-pointers. Megan Hastings added nine points, all from 3-point shots.
The girls head to Troy on Thursday.
‘Troy is a team that switches up their defenses between different types of zones,? said Wasilk. ‘We are doing the best in practice we can to prepare for that. It is going to take a lot of communication on our part on the offensive end to understand them.?
The girls are back home on Tuesday when they host North Farmington.
