When it comes to bouncing back, Clarkston does it in style.
After the Clarkston Girls Varsity Lacrosse team lost to Grand Blanc last Thursday , 11-6, and came back with a 18-7 win over Stoney Creek.
“They showed a lot of strength coming back from that,” said Daneen Kincaid, head coach.
She added they haven’t seen anyone at the same level as Grand Blanc yet in the season.
“It was the wake up that we need to focus on a lot,” Kincaid said. “Against Stoney Creek our defense did an excellent job setting up and drawing charges against the other team.”
The leaders on the scoreboard against Grand Blanc were Lauren Sharkey and Lindsey Pike, both with two goals each. Ryleigh McGregor and Maddie McGuire scored one goal each.
Sharkey led in the game against the Cougars with six goals. Sara Hall scored four goals and had two assists while Pike had four goals and one assist.
Goalie Sierra Pass had eight saves against Grand Blanc and five against Stoney Creek last week.
“She is doing an excellent job of being more aggressive,” Kincaid added. “It’s nice to have someone in there who is aggressive. It is a hard position to play. She is really focused and wants to do well for the team. She wants to win.”
She pointed out Anna Grey continues to lead with draw positions and the offensive attack is getting much stronger.
“We had eight different team members score,” she said. “It was fun to see different people getting credit for goals.”
They have four days of practice before they face off against Troy Athens at home on Friday. JV starts at 5:30 p.m., varsity follows.
“They are a good team,” said Kincaid. “I am sure their program is very strong and we will give them their due.”
Then, they head to the Ladywood Tournament for a day packed full of games.
“It will be a great experience for our girls to get a lot of lacrosse in on one day,” Kincaid said.
They head to Birmingham Seaholm on Monday.
