Making history, literally

Alexander Sennabaum, eighth and ninth grade teacher at Clarkston Junior High School, has been awarded the Michigan American History Teacher of the Year by the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR).
Sennabaum, who was presented the award on April 22, has been teaching in Clarkston for 28 years.
Criteria for the award is based on having an incisive knowledge of American history that the teacher shares with students, fosters a spirit of patriotism and loyal support of our country and constitutional government, demonstrates the ability to relate history to modern life and events, sets high academic standards, requiring excellence at all times from students and is committed to his/her students and enjoys good rapport with them.
Sennabaum’s nomination package included nominations by a student and fellow teachers as well as the Sashabaw Plains Chapter of the NSDAR.
Sennabaum was selected as the sole awardee as the state of Michigan American History teacher.
He was honored at the State Awards Day of the Michigan NSDAR.
