Mary Lou Hughlett-Richmond (nee Pelton), of Clarkston, died peacefully at home surrounded by her children on May 28, 2021 at the age of 87.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Loren “Bill” Pelton and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Stone Pelton, sister Joann Pelton, husband Arthur Howard “Tex” Hughlett in 1983 and husband Robert Franklin “Bob” Richmond in 2011.
Mary Lou was the mother of James William (Anne) Hughlett and Diane Elizabeth Hughlett, grandma of David James (Grace) Hughlett, Samuel Peter Hughlett, and Aaron William (Emily) Hughlett, and great-grandma of Aiden James and Gianna Rose Hughlett.
She was loved by Robert’s daughters, Julia Richmond Hadas and Sharyn Richmond Hill (Bill), and special friends Beth Lawrence, Rainell and Darlene Wcislo.
She retired from General Motors as a warranty claims specialist after 28 years.
She will be remembered for her lifelong devotion to God, her dedication to her church, Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church, where together with her parents, she was a charter member of 75 years. She will be further remembered for her church service being a deaconess, and member of many church groups over the years devoted to reaching out to others in Christ. She was a woman of grace.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church.
Interment at Ottawa Park Cemetery, Clarkston.
