Mountaineers conquer state championship

It was an exciting finish for Clarkston Everest Collegiate at the MHSAA Division 4 Boys Golf State Championship at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek last Friday and Saturday.

Senior Jeffrey (Remy) Stalcup won his second individual title in three years with 142 from two days, 70 on the first day and 72 on the second day.
Sophomore Parker Stalcup finished in second place with a 148 total, 76 and 72; and sophomore Will Pennanen tied for seventh place with a 155, 81 and 74.
Freshman Franco Torio finished with 180, 88 and 92; and sophomore Jimmy Schmitt, 194, 100 and 94.
The Mountaineers finished with a total of 625 to win the state championship. Hillsdale Academy finished in second place with 642; and Glen Lake, third, 657.
