Champs honored

Independence Township Board recognized the achievement of the Clarkston High School Varsity Boys Basketball team by naming March 29, 2017, Clarkston Wolves’ Day.
The declaration, approved at their April 4 meeting, honors Varsity Basketball Head Coach Dan Fife and the Wolves winning the Class A Basketball State Championship for the first time.
“We’re just so proud of them,” Supervisor Pat Kittle said. “It’s just something we thought would be a neat thing to do to recognize the kids and their coach.”

Baseball uniforms OK’d

During the Independence Township Board’s March 7 meeting, the board accepted two bids for 2017 baseball uniforms.
One of the bidders was unable to provide baseball hats, so they will now be providing only the pants and socks while the other bidder will provide the hats and shirts. This increases the amount spent on uniforms by $95, making the new combined baseball uniform bids cost $22,320.80.
