Marjorie G. McClure
Marjorie McClure of Lake Orion passed away, May 19, at age 92.
She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas McClure; dear mother of Judy (Robert) Crowner of Caseville and Thomas H. ( Sharon ) McClure of Oxford; grandmother of six and great-grandmother of 14; and the companion of George Osborne.
Marjorie worked as a secretary at the Clawson-Troy Elks.
Funeral service was Friday, at the Lake Orion Chapel of the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, with interment in Eastlawn Cemetery.

Kay Marilyn McVicar
Kay McVicar, of Lake Orion, passed away May 15 at age 69.
Kay was the beloved wife of Marvin; loving mother of Tim (Connie), Tracy (Shelly) and Tom; dear grandmother of eight; great-grandmother of two; and sister of Richard (Reiko), Eleanor (Jerry) Hurtik, Robert (Linda) and Jim (Debbie).
Kay was a charter member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Oakland County Sportsman’s Club and Den Mother of Pack #59. She was also a bookkeeper and an Avon representative.
Kay will always be remembered by her family as being a devoted wife and mother.
Funeral services were May 18 at the Lake Orion Chapel of Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home with interment in East Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Home and Hospice Advantage.

Glen Dale Kolongowski
Glen Kolongowski, of Ortonville, died May 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 59.
Glen was the dear brother of the late Roy (Carmen) Kolongowski and the late Darlene Jidas; uncle of Tracy (Don) Thompson, Melissa (Brian) Bolt, Colleen (Dominick) Kolongowski, Debbie Jidas, Donnie Jidas and Danny Jidas; also survived by many great nieces and nephews. Glen was a graduate of Lake Orion High School. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, pool player, and a former employee of Bueche’s Food World.

Jean T. Dopirak, 85, of Oxford, died August 24, 2008. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph. Jean was also the dear mother of Gary of North Carolina, James (Marcia) of Clarkston, and the late Steven Dopirak.
She was also the grandmother of Jennifer (Russ) Carr, Melissa Fergus, Stephanie Dopirak, Steven Dopirak, Christopher Dopirak and the late Matt Fergus. She was also the great-grandmother of David James Carr and Abigail Carr.
Jean was a beautifician and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church on 715 North Lapeer Road. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Lake Orion Chapel of the Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home.
Rosary will recited Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Kathryn M. Patrell
Longtime Lakeville Lake resident, Kathyrn M. Patrell (nee Hoye) died peacefully in her sleep at home on December 21, 2004. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Patrell had a long, 15-year battle with cancer.
She was born on August 18, 1925 in Detroit to James A. and Marie R. Hoye. She attended Detroit public and Catholic parochial schools, before marrying John Patrell on October 25, 1947 at the Epiphany Catholic Church in Detroit.
In 1960 the Patrells moved into a cottage on Lakeville Lake and made it their home. ‘She loved it here. She loved to look out the window and see the lake,? said Mr. Patrell. ‘She was a good mother, a good wife and had a good sense of humor.?
A housewife, Mrs. Patrell enjoyed making pottery, reading Danielle Steele novels and watching Jack Nicholsen movies. She was a member of the St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church in Romeo.
Mrs. Patrell is survived by her husband, John, two daughters, Toni (Greg) Futo of Warren and Cindy (David) Kalbfleisch, who also live on the lake. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Jaquelin Price and Katrina Kalbfleisch, both residents of Lakeville Lake. She is survived by her brother, Gilbert Hoye of Florida and her sister, Marylou Stein of Wisconsin.
Arrangements planned Bossardet Chapel Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford. Father Stephen Reckker from St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church will officiate a funeral mass at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 23.
The church is located at 343 S Main St. Romeo; phone, 810-752-9611. Visitation is today (Wednesday) from 2 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home on W. Burdick Street. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Scott Vascassenno
Scott Andrew Vascassenno, 37, of Waterford passed away on Dec. 20, 2004.
Scott is survived by his parents, Andrew and Judy of Rochester, formerly of Oxford. He is the loving brother of Christine McCready, Sandy Forsman, Kathy (Tony) Chowdhary, and Amy Forsman.
Scott is the loving uncle of Jennifer, Ryan, Andria, and Katelyn.
Rev. Karen Moeschberger will officiate at a memorial service to be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23 at Immanuel Congregational United Church of Christ, 1 Hovey, Oxford. Friends may gather at 10 a.m.

Ernest N. Shagnea
Ernest N. Shagnea, 83, was born May 30, 1921 and passed away Dec. 17, 2004 in Jacksonville, FL.
Mr. Shagnea was born in and was a long time resident of Lake Orion. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia J. Shagnea. Mr. Shagnea was a member of Christ Church Presbyterian-PCA, in Jacksonville.
Mr. Shagnea is survived by a daughter Pam Rietzler (Dave) of Ponte Vedre, FL, two sons Chris Shagnea (Debbie) of Jacksonville, FL, and Tracy Shagnea (Anita) of Silver Springs MD. He was the grandfather of eight grandchildren and had two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shagnea was a former member of the Lake Orion School Board, the Lake Orion Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge and a volunteer fireman for Lake Orion.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific during World War II and retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company in 1982 following 37 years of service.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 8 at Lake Orion United Methodist Church, 140 East Flint Street in Lake Orion, MI, 48362. Phone number 248-693-6201.

Scott John Boyl
Scott John Boyl, of Oxford, was taken from us on December 5, 2004 after a struggle with a serious illness. He was 20.
Scott was born Dec. 28, 1983, in Oxford. He is survived by his loving parents Nina and Jim Boyl of Oxford; his brothers Jeff (Jolene) Boyl of Lake Orion, and Tony Boyl of Oxford; his sister Chrystal (Jim) Boyl of Oxford.
Scott graduated 16th in his class from Oxford High School in 2002. He was an outstanding student with a 97-percent average at Kettering University, where he was pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
Scott was also employed as an engineer at ZF Lemforder, in Lapeer.
Working very diligently at everything he did, Scott received numerous scholarships and awards for his accomplishments. He had a brilliant mind and was an innovative thinker, an inventor, and a designer.
Scott was the best son, brother, and friend anyone could hope for, filling our world with so much joy that our world will never be the same without him.
He had so much love to give and he was loved dearly by everyone who was close to him. Scott will be greatly missed and will be in our hearts until we meet again.
Scott, we had so much fun when we were with you. There was always someone we could count on in you. Our lives will never be the same without you.We love you so much Scotty, and will miss you.
Funeral services will be held at Bossardet Chapel Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors (38 W. Burdick St.) in Oxford on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-9 p.m.

Robert N. Ricketts
Born in 1925, Robert Ricketts was a resident of Oxford for 54 years and recently of St. Helen, Michigan and Palmetto, Florida.
Mr. Ricketts was a graduate of Oxford High School and General Motors Institute, in Flint.
He retired from the Research Laboratories of General Motors Technical Center, Warren MI.
Mr. Ricketts also served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mabel Ricketts, four sisters, and his son Robert Bruce Ricketts.
Mr. Ricketts is survived by his wife Roberta and sons James (Diane) of Onaway, Timothy (Terri) of Oxford, and grandchildren Robert Bruce II, Andrea Elizabeth, and Sarah Jean Ricketts.
He is also survived by his brother James, of Oxford; sister Ruth Jessel, of Almont; and many nieces and nephews.
Private services were held in Palmetto, Florida.

Eric M. Allen
Eric M. Allen, born October 1960, passed away suddenly on Nov. 26, 2004. He was 44.
Formerly of Oxford, Mr. Allen was a limousine driver and lived in of Nashville, Tennessee.
He is survived by his parents Larry and Sue (Ellwel) Allen, of Oxford.
He is also survived by his brothers Jeff (Linda) Allen of Oxford; Larry James Allen of Pueblo, Colorado; and Sue R. Hoeher, of Oxford; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces.
Memorial services were held December 2 in Nashville, Tennessee.
