One of the more popular Clarkston Facebook questions of late is, “What is going in at the corner of M-15 and Dixie Highway?”
It is such a frequent question many make jokes. “A massage parlor,” is a favorite. To dispel rumors and some of the jokes, we asked Independence Township Supervisor Pat Kittle what is going on as construction continues on that corner. The only confirmed store currently is a Verizon Wireless store.
Kittle said the rest of the strip is planned to be takeout facilities, but nothing is confirmed yet.
In other development news, construction has yet to begin on Encore Deerhill Villas, off of Dixie Highway near I-75. The developer must secure all needed permits from the township before breaking ground on the site.
“We are waiting on the developer to bring back final site plans and to come in to get his building permit,” said Kittle. “We are in contact with him every other week asking for updates and he said it will be soon.”
