5. Circulation for December up 19.1% from the previous year at 32,192 items borrowed.
6. Approved application for a Library Services and Technology Act grant to Design and Implement a “Virtual Lake Orion” web-based communications and information system.
7. Approved $1200 to buy materials to promote National Library Week (April 6-April 12).

9. Collaborative Committee presented waste hauling RFP results with significant savings to the library, director to follow-up with a contract with a new vendor
10. Departmental goals were presented in anticipation of the upcoming strategic planning work
11. Discussed honoring Jill Bastian at the library
12. Staff has been working with contractors to find and resolve the intermittent roof leak problem
13. An RFP was distributed for a new preventative maintenance contract for HVAC and a new contractor has started
14. Credit Card account information is being updated to reflect changes in library staff
15. Action Item: The Orion Room will be renamed in horror of James Ingram, as provided for in the naming policy

? Five years of building system repair and maintenance, construction, plumbing or HVAC work
? Valid Michigan driver’s license

? Knowledge of safe and effective use of cleaning equipment and solutions
? Ability to diagnose and solve mechanical electrical and plumbing problems
? Able to write requests for bids for contracted work
? Able to work cooperatively with vendors, staff, and public
? Able to direct work assignments of staff effectively
? Proximity to library preferred.
Physical Requirements
The ability to utilize a variety of hand and power tools, climb ladders, move equipment of moderate to heavy weight, communicate clearly with others on phone or in person.
Hours
Full time (37.5 hours/week currently) with benefits and may include evening or weekend hours. May be called to respond to emergencies during off hours.
Pay Range
$37,000-$49,000

President MaryAnne Thorndycraft called tire meeting to order at 7:10 p.m.
1. Agenda approved as amended.
2. Minutes of May 20, 2004 regular meeting approved.
3. Financial statement and treasurer’s report for May, 2004 to be filed for audit.
4. Bills report approved.
5. Circulation for May down .3% from the previous year at 27,581 items borrowed but remains almost 15% higher than two years ago.
6. Received two memos from Township regarding:
1) C0BASYS application for Industrial Facilities Exemption certificate
2) Their receipt and fling of Library Audited Financial Statements
7. Several board members to attend MLA workshop ‘Devel oping an Effective Library Board?
Meeting adjourned at 9:18 p.m. Next regular meeting is Thursday, July 15, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the conference room of the library.
