Paula Roxanne Anderson (Mimie) passed away peacefully on May 31, 2021 at her home in National City at the age of 87 with her family by her side.
Paula was born September 26, 1933 in Detroit and was raised by her loving parents Earl and Irene Weil, in Royal Oak.
After high school, she went to work as a telephone operator at Michigan Bell. It was during her time as a “Bell Girl” that she met and married her husband, Charles Anderson, formerly of Oscoda. Although Paula and Charles raised their family in Warren, they spent most weekends and holidays “up north.” Upon retirement in 1985, they became permanent residents at their home on Round Lake in National City. During their 60-plus years together, they enjoyed traveling and ultimately visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. After retirement, they wintered every year in Florida.
Paula was an extremely creative and talented artist, and was a lifetime member of the Warren Tri-City Fine Arts Organization. She never sent a card or letter without drawing one of her original cartoons on the outside of the envelope. She was an active member of the Sand Lake Heights Women’s Auxiliary for over 30 years and a member of the Red Hat Hotties of Hale. She was not only a member of the NRA, but won many shooting competitions as an expert marksman. A little-known family secret is that Paula could not only out-shoot her husband with a gun, but with a bow and arrow as well.
Paula was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Anderson, her parents Earl and Irene Weil, her sister Laurie Jones of Ashland, Ore., her mother-in-law and father in-law Edith and Edward Anderson of Oscoda, and all of her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Paula is survived by her daughter Nanci Anderson-Bereznicki and son-in-law Rodney Bereznicki of Clarkston and National City, granddaughter Dr. Sarah Anderson Bereznicki of Wendell, N.C., “the grandson she always wanted,” Jesse Good of Grand Rapids, and her beloved fur baby, Odie. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and a whole lot of friends who were family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Baylis of Clarkston for all of his support, and encouragement over the past few years.
The family will welcome friends on Saturday, June 19 from 10 a.m. until the time of service beginning at noon at Buresh Funeral Home in Oscoda. A memorial dinner is planned at the Sand Lake Community Center at 2 p.m. following interment at Pioneer Cemetery in Grant Township. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Sand Lake Heights Women’s Auxiliary.
