CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF INDEPENDENCE

NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE
State general ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
TUESDAY, november 8, 2022

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of the Charter Township of Independence, County of Oakland, who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Township Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the Township Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at https://mvic.sos.state.mi.us.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk for the Primary Election is Monday, October 24, 2022.

After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the Charter Township of Independence Clerk’s office, located at 6483 Waldon Center Dr., Clarkston, MI 48346 at the following times:

• Regular business hours: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday, November 5th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: The Tuesday, November 8th State General Election will be conducted in all voting precincts of the Charter Township of Independence for the purpose of nominating candidates to the following offices:

STATE: Governor; Secretary of State; Attorney General
CONGRESSIONAL: Representative in Congress – 9th District / 11th District
LEGISLATIVE: State Senator – 23rd District / 24th District; Representative in State Legislature – 52nd District
STATE BOARDS: Member of the State Board of Education; Regent of the University of Michigan; Trustee of Michigan State University; Governor of Wayne State University
COUNTY: County Commissioner – 8th District
TOWNSHIP: Supervisor

NON-PARTISAN OFFICE:
JUDICIAL: Justice of the Supreme Court; Judge of Court of Appeals – 2nd District; Judge of Circuit Court – 6th District; Judge of Probate Court; Judge of District Court – 52nd District, 2nd Division

Proposal 22-1: A proposal to amend the state constitution to require annual public financial disclosure reports by legislators and other state officers and change state legislator term limit to 12 total years in legislature

Proposal 22-2: A proposal to amend the state constitution to add provisions regarding elections

Proposal 22-3: A proposal to amend the state constitution to establish new individual right to reproductive freedom, including right to make all decisions about pregnancy and abortion; allow state to regulate abortion in some cases; and forbid prosecution of individuals exercising established right

LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT:

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE THAT THE BONDS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT, IF APPROVED BY A MAJORITY VOTE OF THE ELECTORS AT THIS ELECTION, WILL BE GENERAL OBLIGATION UNLIMITED TAX BONDS PAYABLE FROM GENERAL AD VALOREM TAXES.

Waterford School District: Operating Millage Proposal

Full text of the ballot proposal may be obtained at the Charter Township of Independence Clerk’s Office, 6483 Waldon Center Drive, Clarkston, MI 48346. A sample ballot may be viewed on the Township website www.indtwp.com under Clerk/Election/Finance – Election Information.
