A proposal to implement a rental inspection ordinance in the Clarkston was presented at the Feb. 27 council meeting.
If ultimately approved, this ordinance would require inspections of all rental units – both apartments and homes – in the city every two years with a goal of ensuring the health, safety and welfare of residents.
According to City Manager Jonathan Smith, the city would not profit from this program as the fee schedule would be structured so as to simply cover the program costs.
