Ryan Eugene Shaul, of San Jose, Calif., passed away January 26, 2023 at the age of 41.
Ryan was born February 3, 1981 in Clarkston, the son of Rodney E. and Sherri (Kiser) Shaul.
He was a 1999 graduate of Clarkston High School.
Ryan was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a proud infantryman, where he served four tours between Iraq and Afghanistan. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University.
Ryan was employed as a personal trainer. He loved to teach, coach and work out, and he was great at it. Ryan was co-facilitator for Tribe Talks with counselor and friend Melissa Engle, building bridges of hope and connection for other vets.
Surviving are his daughters Rhea Bentley and Dani Spivey and their mother Jessica M. Bentley of San Jose, mother Sherri Shaul of Linden, father, Rodney (Blinda) Shaul of Canadian Lakes, sister Angie (Marc) Hoffman of Fenton, nephews Micah and Josiah Hoffman, and many dear friends.
A service will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St, Linden (A live stream of the service will be available on Ryan’s obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com), with burial following at 1 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or Operation Freedom Paws.
