Sally Curry, 87

CURRY

Sally A. (Porritt) Curry, of Gaylord, formerly from Clarkston, passed peacefully with her children present on February 10, 2023, at the age 87.
Sally was the beloved mother of six children, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Born on August 18, 1935 at Grandma Green’s in Clarkston, common birthplace of hundreds of Clarkston children during that era, Sally was the daughter of Edward and Gladys Porritt, owners of Porritt Dairy. Sharing her household with five other siblings, she was a sweet sister known for keeping her surroundings tidy and was admired for her beautiful auburn hair.
Sally attended Clarkston High School where she was a cheerleader. She met her husband, John Curry, at school and they shared 67-plus years of marriage together. Clarkston schools also had the privilege of employing Sally for 19 years. Numerous students will remember kind and cheerful Mrs. Curry from both the elementary school playground and/or the high school attendance office.
After retiring from her alma mater, Sally and John moved to Michaywe, Mich. There, Sally enjoyed her golden years hosting friends and family for weekend stays where she tirelessly and joyfully cooked, baked, and played games. She enjoyed shopping and spent countless hours creating homemade cards for the people she dearly loved. Many friends and family can attest to the blessing of receiving Sally’s homemade creations in their mailbox.
Faith was integral to Sally’s being and her family was impacted by her love of God. Joyfulness, hard work, positivity, and an easy-going spirit were her strengths. Her children will forever attest that she was nothing shy of an angel on earth.
Sally is survived by her children Greg (Tina) Curry, Ed (Debbie) Curry, Diane (late Rick Bennett) Curry, Scott Curry, Janet Curry, and Judy (John) Major, grandchildren Amanda, Adam (Ardis), Brian (Beth), Michelle (Adam), Heather, Matt (Carrie), Shane (Bernadette), Trevor (Heather), Alayna (Michael), Chelsea (Austin), Ryan, Bree (Peter), Sally (Owen), Anna, Emily (Nick), and Jack, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers Bill (Joan) Porritt and Bob (Ruth) Porritt, sister Jean (late Gary) Kimberly, and sister-in-law Sally Ross, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
