Oxford — Clarkston Varsity Baseball closed the season against Grand Blanc in the MHSAA Division 1 District 31 Semifinal on June 3, 5-0.
“It was disappointing,” said Addison Turk, head coach. “We had no hits which made it sting a little more. Grand Blanc is a really good team. When it comes to districts you have to play your best, and we just fell a little bit short.”
The Bobcats grabbed the lead at the top of the first inning with an RBI from Nathan Fidelino. They added three more runs at the top of the fourth inning off Alex Stuart’s double.
“They got the momentum right away,” said Turk. “They capitalized – give them credit. Unfortunately we couldn’t counter punch. We held them in check. We just didn’t get any runs.”
The Wolves finished the season with an overall 15-16 record and 10-8 in OAA Red.

“It was a success,” Turk added about the season. “We finished over .500 in the league. This is one of the two to three toughest leagues in the area. We had a couple kids picked for the MAC/OAA All Star game which was nice to see – Luke Spicer and Carson White. It was just a pleasure to go down to the field every day and coach the boys. It’s a really fun group to be around and a close team. They were just willing to learn every single day.”
He added it started with the seniors.
“They are all really close. It just trickled down to the juniors and the sophomores,” Turk said. “It helps they worked out all off season together. I am a firm believer that the more things a team does together, the closer it will make them. We also had a group of kids that didn’t care about their individual success. They cared more about the team’s success. When you have that you can’t ask for anything more as a coach.”
He added seniors added to helping the team keep getting better.
“The last couple of years we talked about how the program is ascending,” he said. “They only added to that and now we need the next step. We keep building.”
