Stellar Season

The Lady Wolves set the spring season on fire.
‘We had a tremendous amount of accomplishments,? said Clarkston Varsity Softball Head Coach Don Peters. ‘There was a lot of great things. They are one of the best teams in the state and they played like that all the time.?
Not only did the team reach the MHSAA Softball Division 1 Quarterfinals but they were also champions in the OAA Red League, district, region, Mel and Josephine Vaara Pink Classic, Ann Arbor Tournament and Bay City Tournament.
They finished the season with a 40-3 record, including being undefeated in the league and being named Academic All-State team. They also helped Peters win his 800th game.
The team includes Abby Skvarce, Ashley Skaggs, Paige Blevins, Savannah Spring, Rachel Vieira, Mikayla Blaska, Madeline Maday, Maddy Scarsella, Hannah Chadwell, Madison Peck, Kaylee Percival, Candace Kitchen, Alex Gladding, Alex Favazza and Victoria Sharkey.
Several players ended the season with honors.
Blaska, Kitchen and Vieira received honors for All-State, All- League, All-County, All-Ann Arbor Tournament Team, All-District, All-Region and Academic All-State. Vieira also received Most Spirited.
Blaska also received the Michigan High School Softball Coaches? Association Scholarship.
Skvarce and Favazza received honorable mention All-State, All-League, All-District and All-Region. Favazza also received Academic All-State and Skvarce received honorable mention All-County. Madeline Maday received Academic All-State and second team All-District and All-Region and Victoria Sharkey was named second team All-District.
The coaching staff, of Peters, Mike McCollum, Bailey Bailey, Tara Perry and Joe Moore, were district, region and OAA coaches of the year.
Favazza, Vieira, Blaska and Kitchen will play in this summer’s MHSSCA All-Star game with Peters as one of the coaches.
